About Treatments
What is Dermalogica Face Mapping®?
Face Mapping® is Dermalogica’s unique skin analysis technique that divides the face into 14 distinct zones. This professional analysis helps identify your specific skin concerns and the underlying causes, allowing for truly personalised treatment and product recommendations. Face Mapping® is included with all skin treatments.
How often should I have a professional skin treatment?
For optimal results, I recommend treatments every 4-6 weeks for most skin conditions. This timeframe aligns with your skin’s natural cell turnover cycle. However, the frequency can vary depending on your specific concerns, skin goals, and the treatments you’re receiving. Some advanced treatments like Pro Power Peel or Melanopro have specific timing recommendations that I’ll discuss during your consultation.
Do I need to prepare for my treatment?
For most treatments, it’s best to avoid active skincare ingredients (like retinol or AHAs) 48 hours before your appointment. Please arrive with clean skin if possible, though makeup removal is included in your treatment time if needed. Some treatments require a patch test 72 hours before your appointment—this will be clearly noted in the treatment description.
Will there be downtime after my treatment?
Most treatments have minimal to no downtime. You may experience slight redness immediately after treatment, but this typically subsides within a few hours. Advanced treatments like Pro Power Peel or Melanopro may cause mild flaking for several days afterward. I’ll provide specific post-treatment guidance for each service.
What should I do after my treatment?
I’ll provide personalised aftercare instructions following your treatment. Generally, you should avoid extreme heat, direct sun exposure, and strenuous exercise for 24 hours after treatment. Sunscreen application is essential, particularly after treatments that include exfoliation or resurfacing.
Booking & Appointments
How do I book an appointment?
Appointments can be booked directly through the Booksy system on my website. Simply click the “Book Now” button next to your desired treatment, select your preferred date and time, and follow the prompts to complete your booking.
What is the booking fee policy?
A non-refundable booking fee is required at the time of booking. This amount is deducted from your total treatment cost on the day. The booking fee is retained if you cancel within 48 hours of your appointment (50% for cancellations 24-48 hours before, 100% for cancellations less than 24 hours before).
What if I need to cancel my appointment?
Please provide at least 48 hours’ notice if you need to cancel or reschedule. Cancellations between 24-48 hours before your appointment will incur a 50% charge, while cancellations within 24 hours or no-shows will be charged at 100% of the treatment cost.
Can I arrive early for my appointment?
Yes, you’re welcome to arrive up to 10 minutes before your scheduled time. If it’s your first visit, arriving 15 minutes early is recommended to complete your consultation form.
What happens if I'm late?
If you’re running late, please contact me as soon as possible. I’ll do my best to accommodate you, but if you’re more than 10 minutes late, your treatment time may need to be shortened, or in some cases, the appointment may need to be rescheduled (with late cancellation policies applying).
Products & Shopping
Do you sell Dermalogica products?
Yes, I offer a selection of professional Dermalogica products recommended based on your specific skin needs. Following your treatment, I can advise on the most suitable products for your home care routine.
Can I buy Dermalogica products without having a treatment?
Yes, product consultations and purchases are available even if you’re not booking a treatment. Please contact me to arrange a product consultation or to inquire about specific products.
What if a product doesn't work for me?
Dermalogica is committed to your satisfaction. If you’re not seeing the expected results with your products, please contact me for a follow-up consultation to reassess your skin needs and adjust your routine as needed.
Payment & Policies
What payment methods do you accept?
I accept debit/credit cards (including contactless), cash, and bank transfers for larger packages. Payment is due at the time of service.
Do you offer gift vouchers?
Yes, gift vouchers are available for all treatments or specific amounts. These make perfect presents for birthdays, anniversaries, or any special occasion. Gift vouchers can be purchased online or in person.
Is there parking available?
Yes, Sudbrook Therapy Centre offers free parking on site. When you arrive, simply park in any available space in the car park.
What should I wear for my treatment?
Comfortable clothing is recommended. For facial treatments, you’ll be provided with a headband to keep hair away from your face. For full back treatments, you may be asked to remove or adjust clothing for access to the treatment area, but proper draping techniques are always used to maintain your comfort and privacy.
Advanced Treatments
What's the difference between regular facials and advanced treatments?
Advanced treatments like Pro Power Peel, Pro Dermaplaning, Pro Nano Infusion, and Pro Microneedling use specialised techniques, technologies, and professional-grade products to address specific concerns more intensively than standard facials. These treatments often deliver more dramatic results but may require patch tests or specific preparation.
How do I know which treatment is right for me?
The best way to determine the most appropriate treatment is through a professional consultation. During your first visit, I’ll perform a thorough skin analysis and discuss your concerns and goals before recommending the most suitable treatment plan.
What is LED light therapy?
LED (light-emitting diodes) uses Dermalux FlexMD LED’s unique combination of clinically proven Blue, Red and Near Infrared wavelengths to boost collagen production, increase hydration and target blemish-causing bacteria. This non-invasive and effective technology is included in our Targeted Treatments: Pro Clear, Pro Bright, Pro Firm, Pro Calm and Luminfusion. You can enjoy a relaxing reflex/foot touch therapy whilst the LED is working its magic!
What is NanoInfusion?
NanoInfusion is a non-invasive technique utilising the Dermalogica Pro Pen with stainless steel cone nanotips, which resurfaces the skin and enhances product penetration. A silicone nanotube is used around the eyes and is perfect for addressing fine lines and wrinkles. NanoInfusion helps improve skin texture, boost hydration as well as address signs of premature skin ageing. The most immediate, visible change in the skin is a hydrated glow.
What is microcurrent and how does it work?
Microcurrent is a safe and effective non-invasive technology used in age management facials that utilises a low level of electricity to stimulate the face. Microcurrent facials result in skin that is firm, contoured, and hydrated. Microcurrent uses an extremely low level of electricity that mirrors the body’s own natural electrical current. Because this low level of electricity is subsensory, treatments are comfortable and painless. Together with proven application techniques, microcurrent technology offers clients a natural solution to age management.
Are patch tests really necessary?
Yes, for treatments marked as requiring a patch test, this safety measure is essential and non-negotiable. Patch tests help identify potential adverse reactions before applying products to larger areas of your skin. They must be performed at least 72 hours prior to your scheduled treatment.
Can I combine different treatments?
Many treatments can be combined for enhanced results. For example, add-on wellbeing therapies or skin boosters can complement your main treatment. During your consultation, I’ll advise on beneficial combinations based on your skin’s needs and time constraints.
How long will results last?
Results vary depending on the treatment, your skin condition, and how well you maintain your skin between visits. Many treatments show immediate improvements that continue to develop over days or weeks. Following your personalised home care routine will help extend and enhance your results.
